Championship-winning Raider baseball coach heading to Seattle University

Mike Nadeau, head coach of the NWAACC champion Pierce College Raiders baseball team, has accepted a position on the coaching staff at Seattle University.

In his three years as the head coach of the Raiders, Nadeau led the program to unprecedented success, capturing two Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges West Region titles (2011 and 2012), and the program’s first ever NWAACC Conference Championship on May 28. Nadeau compiled a record of 79 wins and 45 losses, including back-to-back seasons of 30 or more wins (32 in 2011 and 33 in 2012). He was twice selected the West Region Coach of the Year, and was recently named the 2012 NWAACC Coach of the Year.

During his time at Pierce, Nadeau advanced 21 players who are now, or will be playing at four-year colleges around the country, including six of the eight sophomores from this year’s championship team.

“What Mike has accomplished in his three years with the Raider baseball program has set a new standard for our entire department,” said Pierce College Athletic Director Duncan Stevenson. “His legacy will be measured not only by his success on the field, but more importantly, by the work he has done in developing outstanding young men. We are extremely sad to lose him, but excited for this opportunity for Mike to coach at the Division One level.”

Mike’s desire to climb the professional ladder in college coaching brings the kind of energy and enthusiasm to our program that will help our student-athletes grow and develop, both on and off the field,” added Seattle University Head Coach Donny Harrel. “He accomplished great things in a very short period of time at Pierce, and we know he will bring that same commitment to excellence to our program here at Seattle University.”
