Green Riverís Malroy accepts Head Men's Basketball Position at Evergreen State
After ten seasons patrolling the sideline for the Green River Community College men’s basketball program head coach Tim Malroy has accepted the same position in Olympia, WA at Evergreen State University.† He will join the NAIA four-year program bringing with him a wealth of coaching experience and recruiting contacts throughout the Northwest region.†† Malroy led the GRCC Gators men’s team since 2004 becoming the second wininngest men’s basketball coach in school history. ††His 114 victories were highlighted by his best team in 2009-10 which qualified for the NWAACC tournament.
“We are saddened and excited at the same time for the opportunity to help promote Tim to the next phase of his professional journey,” state GRCC Director of Athletics, Bob Kickner. †“Tim has worked through the challenges of community college athletics and went to war annually with our fellow competitors in the Western Region.† I have no doubt Tim leaves the NWAACC with great respect and a desire from his peers to see Evergreen do well.† Looks like we will become Geoduck fans here in Auburn.”
Malroy started his NWAACC coaching career as the women’s basketball coach at South Puget Sound CC from 2001-2004 where he led the Clippers to two appearances at the NWAACC tournament in his three seasons in Olympia.† Malroy’s integrity and professionalism earned him a spot on the NWAACC basketball sports committee where he has served for three seasons.
Green River will begin a search for a new basketball coach immediately.
