Weekend recap of basketball tournaments & all-tourney teams

Bulldog Classic

BELLEVUE, WASH. - In a championship clash that was tied at half, Umpqua out-scored Lane to win the title 69-63.  The Riverhawks were lead by tourney MVP Ashli Payne, who posted 35 points and 10 boards.  Sawyer Kluge had 16 points, 7 boards.  Umpqua was nearly perfect from the charity strip, going 11-12.  The ‘Hawks also outmuscled the Titans on the boards, 41-33.

In the 3rd place game, the host Bellevue topped Skagit Valley 64-51 while Everett defeated Big Bend 75-56 for 4th.

Bigfoot Classic

SPOKANE, WASH.  - North Idaho survived a second-half rally by Spokane to win the Bigfoot Classic Championship this weekend.  The Cardinals took a 44-28 lead into the locker room at half.  The second half saw Spokane shooting 53% including 8-16 from the arc to outscore North Idaho 52-40.  However, the Cardinals survived, winning 84-80 for the title.  Kyle Guice posted 18 points, 6 boards.  Fuquan Niles has 7 points, 12 boards.

Green River topped Yakima Valley 83-70 to claim 4th while Big Bend defeated Everett 73-67 for 3rd.
