Holiday Tournament Recaps and All-Tourney Teams


Clackamas Holiday Invite

OREGON CITY, ORE.  -- Edmonds used 26 2nd-chance points and a +10 rebound differential to top Walla Walla 90-79 in the championship game at the Clackamas Holiday Invite.  Charlie Smith led all scorers with 27.  MVP Zach Pederson added 15 points and 10 rebounds. 

Clackamas topped Tacoma 82-68 for 3rd place.  Everett holds off Linn-Benton 80-76 for 4th.

Big Bend Holiday Classic

MOSES LAKE, WASH.  -- Columbia Basin shot 52% from the field and 11/22 from the arc to top Big Bend 91-78 in the Big Bend Holiday Tournament championship.  Brandon Oswalt led the Hawks with 27 and 5 steals.  James Lopez added 16.  Michael Joseph chipped in 11 and 8 assists.

Chemeketa Holiday Classic

SALEM, ORE.  -- Wenatchee Valley goes 3-0 at the Chemeketa Holiday Classic, defeating Lane 96-77 in the battle of the unbeatens.  Lauren Johnson finished with 21 points and 6 assists.

Skagit Holiday Tournament

MOUNT VERNON, WASH.  -- Spokane led the whole way, taking a 6-point half point lead all the way to defeat Big Bend 63-53 to win the Skagit Holiday Tournament.  The Sasquatch’s Rayla Lohman went 4-5 from the arc for 14 to lead all scorers. 

Bellevue tops Kwantlen 66-57 for 3rd.  The host Cardinals top the NW Indian College 73-58 for 4th.

Lady Devil Holiday Classic

LONGVIEW, WASH. -- Snow College led by as many as 9 in the 2nd half  but poor shooting (18%) down the stretch allowed a late Centralia comeback.   Blazer Courtney Kaupu tied the game at 2 minutes.  Jamika Parker blocked a Badger shot with 31 seconds left leading to a Blazer offense set that saw Parker with an offensive board and putback with 5 seconds left.  Blazers win the Lady Devil Holiday Classic 52-50.  Snow is ranked #16 in the latest NJCAA poll.  

Umpqua holds off a 2nd half North Idaho rally to win 3rd 75-71.  Blue Mountain holds off a 2nd half Lower Columbia surge to win 4th 83-78.
(Note: North Idaho qualified for the championship game against Snow, but the tournament was set to not have teams from the same conference play each other on the final day.)
