Trailblazer Damian Lillard and LCC's Kaylea Knox battle in three point charity shootout
Lower Columbia's Myklebust Gym featured some big time talent on Sunday March 29th.
It was NBA All-Star Damian Lillard taking on NWAC All-Star Kaylea Knox in a charity three-point shooting competition and everybody was a winner.
Dick Hannah Toyota of Kelso brought Lillard to campus as part of the Three's 4 Three's event that Lillard provides for communities in the Portland and Southwest Washington area. In front of a crowd of just under 1,000, Lillard hit 30 of 36 three point attempts to raise $9,000, split three ways between the Longview YMCA, The Cowlitz County Humane Society and the LCC Athletics Excellence scholarship fund.
That's when Dick Hannah himself took the microphone and challenged Knox to make a three pointer to double the money. As Devil fans know, Knox is money and she stepped up and drained the clutch three to increase the donation to $18,000. All three charities where thrilled to get the $6,000 compliments of Lillard and Dick Hannah.
For fun, Knox then competed with the Trail Blazer star in a best of 10 shootout. Knox, the all-time scorer at LCC, beat Lillard 7 to 6, triggering a roar from the crowd.
Lillard was gracious to come to LCC on his day off and he spoke to the crowd about the importance of giving back to kids and community. Lillard also posed for pictures with the Red Devil men's and women's basketball teams.
It was a great day for Longview-Kelso, the LCC athletic department, the YMCA and the Humane Society.
Thanks to Dick Hannah Toyota and Damian Lillard for providing a memorable day at LCC!
