Jo Paine & Bryan Berg named Baden NWAC Basketball Players of the Year
Clackamas Community College, sophomore guard, Jo Paine (Oregon City, Oregon) has been named the Baden Women's Basketball Player of the Year for 2016. Paine led the Cougars to the first round of the NWAC championship tournament appearance in 2016 and was the second leading scorer this past season in the NWAC averaging 23.1 ppg.
She also averaged 12.2 rebounds per game along with 5.2 assists per contest. Paine was the only player in the top three in the NWAC for points, rebounds, and assists per game. She set school single game records for both points and rebounds in a game with 46 and 24 respectively.
Paine will finish her transfer degree at the conclusion of spring term and is being recruited by several NCAA Division and Division II schools.
Clark College, sophomore guard, Bryan Berg (Tigard, OR) has been named the Baden Men's Basketball Player of the Year for 2016. Berg a two-year performer led the Penguins to their second regional title in a row and to a 3rd place finish at the 2016 NWAC Championship Tournament.
He was also a member of the 2015 Clark College NWAC championship team. This year Berg led the Penguins in scoring with 17.6 ppg. while shooting 56% from the floor and 45% from the three point line.
Berg shot 85% from the free throw line and averaged 2.63 assists per game. Bryan's cumulative record at Clark was 48-15.
Both Paine and Berg will receive their awards at the NWAC HOF Banquet June 2, 2016 at the Bellevue Red Lion.
