Women's Tournament Adds Three More Teams - Bellevue, Clackamas and Clark
Vancouver, WA - The 2010 NWAACC Women's Basketball Championship added three more teams to the bracket after Wednesday night's results. Bellevue, Clackamas and Clark all won to secure their spot in the postseason.
Bellevue had four scorers in double digits in their win over Seattle CC. The Bulldogs (11-2,16-7) remain 1.5 games behind Skagit Valley with three games remaining on their schedule. Bellevue will make their sixteenth (fifth consecutive) appearance in postseason play. In the 2009 tournament, BC was knocked out on the third day. The Bulldogs are led by Alisha Love (11.65 ppg), Kayla Haines (9.71 ppg, 6 rpg), Maddie Miller (9.09 ppg) and Olivia Lewis (9.09 ppg).
The Clark Penguins will be making their first journey to the Toyota Center since 2006 when they were coached by Aaron Christian (now Head Coach Women's Basketball Coach at Concordia University). Head Coach Nancy Boone in her fourth year has put together a solid team led by Renee Tzeo (13.55 ppg, 4.75 apg) and Chawncy McClenan (12.15 ppg,6.25 rpg). This year will be Clark's 23rd trip to the tournament.
The Clackamas Cougars will be headed to Tri-Cities for the tenth consecutive year. Last year, the Cougars finished sixth. They last won the tournament in 2004. Under the guidance of Co-Head Coaches Jim Martineau (12th Year) and Kayla Steen (First Year), Clackamas will look to improve on their performance last year. Clackamas is led by sophomore Rylee Peterson in scoring (18.10 ppg), rebounding (9.71 rpg), blocks (3.33 bpg) and steals (2.81 spg)
