Spokane, WA -- Griffon Jones signed a Letter of Intent to play with the Dixie State College. He joins the Red Storm after a two-year career at Community Colleges of Spokane .
As a sophomore, Jones averaged 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. He also shot 60% from the field and 67% from the free throw line.
Jones was also named the NWAACC East region’s most valuable player while leading Spokane Community College to the East region championship for the second consecutive year. Overall, Griffon helped lead Spokane to a 44-14 record in his two years there.
“Griffon will be greatly missed here at Spokane,” head coach Clint Hull stated. “His work ethic both on and off the floor was contagious and he represents exactly what we look for in a student-athlete, not to mention the fact that he was a really good player,” Hull added.
Before his two-year career at Spokane Community College, Jones prepped at Cheney High School where he garnered first team all-conference honors.
In addition to his success on the basketball court, Jones was also a track and field standout, competing in both discus and shot-put for Spokane Community College and winning the 2009 NWAACC championship in the discus. He has done all this while maintaining an impressive 3.4 GPA.
Coach Judkins: “Griffon will be a good fit for us. He can play the 4 or the 5. He is very long, a great post defender, great rebounder, and he shot over 60% from the field last year. He is very good playing with his back to the basket, and I really like his length, his size, and his athleticism. We are very excited to have him.”
