Minot State University signs Tacoma CC standout Enriquez
MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University head men’s basketball coach Peter Stewart announced Wednesday that Anthony Enriquez has signed a Dakota Athletic Conference letter of intent to play next season for the Beavers.
Enriquez, a 6-foot-2 guard from Lakewood, Wash., comes to Minot State from Tacoma Community College in Tacoma, Wash. "There are players that we run into during the year of competition that you just say, ‘If I had the opportunity to coach him,' " Stewart said. "Anthony was one of those players. He comes out of an outstanding program in Tacoma CC and played under former Division I coach Carl Howell."
Enriquez helped lead TCC to a 25-4 record and a spot in the NWAACC Tournament. He averaged 13.4 points, 4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. He was named first team all league and all tournament as a prep for Lakes High School in Lakewood, Wash. " We are very excited for Anthony, He had a good career here at TCC and we know he will excel at Minot. Peter is getting a great kid who competes night in and night out" said TCC Head Coach Carl Howell "You just love the competitive drive he plays with and his passion for doing things the right way. I have never put a position label on him, but I can tell you this: he is a competitor. He can just flat play the game."
“One of the things that Anthony mentioned he wanted to be in was a family environment. After one day in Minot and meeting many of the Beaver fans and Minot residents, he was hooked on the community. Anthony wants to get an education. He was really impressed with the campus, the programs we have to offer and with the faculty he met.”
