Southern Region MVP Shayla Ball signs with Florida Gulf Coast University.
OREGON CITY, OR -- Sophomore Guard Shayla Ball (Hillsboro, Or) considered offers from several DI schools and decided to take a full scholarship offer and become an Eagle. Ball will join a very good FGCU team coming off of a 28-4 season and their 4th straight trip to the WNIT tournament.
Clackamas Head Coach Kayla Steen had this to say about Shayla and her success, "Shayla's DI scholarship is a well deserved result of her hard work and determination over the last two years. She has had an outstanding two seasons at Clackamas. She should have great success with the Eagles & be able to make an immediate impact."
Ball led the Cougars to back-to-back Southern Region championships and was named Southern Region MVP after averaging 21.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.6 steals, and 3.1 assists per game during the 2010-11 regular season. The 5’11 guard, shot 48.2 percent from the floor and 43.1 percent from three-point range, while scoring 896 points and grabbing 478 rebounds in two years Clackamas CC. She recorded 19 double doubles as a sophomore and ranked in the top three for the entire NWAACC in points, rebounds, and steals.
