Several Former NWAACC players help lift Western Washington University Men to DIV II National Championship

Western Washington University won the NCAA Division II men's National Championship on March 24 defeating University of Montevallo 72-65.

Seven former NWAACC standouts are members of the team.

Whatcom's Zach Henifin, started all 36 games for the Vikings averaging 10.6 ppg, was 2nd in steals with 63 and 2nd in blocks with 27. Others playing significant roles were Dan Young (Highline), 34 games, team high 37 blocks -- Paul Jones (Whatcom) 34 games, 7.9ppg and Rico Wilkins ( Yakima Valley) 36games, 7.3ppg.

Also suiting up for the Vikings were Shedrick Nelson, Highline 6ppg, Damien Fisher (Centralia) and Alfred Davis ( Pierce).

Nelson was a strong contributor for WWU until he suffered and early season knee injury while Davis took a red-shirt season and is expected to be back to help the Vikings defend their title next season.
