Clackamas’ Taylor Dunn signs at Simon Fraser University

OREGON CITY -- Clackamas sophomore Taylor Dunn (Mt. View HS, Vancouver, WA.) has accepted a scholarship to continue his basketball and academic career at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Vancouver, British Columbia. SFU is a Division 2 member of the GNAC, a conference that features national powers Seattle Pacific and 2012 national champion Western Washington. A transfer from Central Washington University to Clackamas Community College last season, Dunn had a dominating year on offense for the Cougars. A 1st team All- Southern Region selection, Dunn averaged 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists per game despite seeing a lot of double teams and special defenses. As the region runner up in scoring, he shot 47% from the floor and 41% from the 3 point line. Dunn is a 6’5 shooting guard who can handle the ball, shoot the 3, shoot the pull up jumper and really finish well at the hoop. In the classroom, Dunn earned a 4.0 GPA fall term and completed his associate’s degree this spring. His scholarship at SFU will cover 90% of his educational costs for the next two years. “Taylor is a very prolific and versatile scorer,” said head coach Cliff Wegner. “He can shoot the three and put it on the floor. He’s a good rebounder, has good court sense, a great feel for the game, and above all, is a good person. He was really a great kid to coach, easy to work with, and well liked by his team mates. He’s not flashy, but I think he’s going to be a very strong GNAC player and thanks to his NWAACC experience and confidence, he'll be that much better. He is your prototypical big scoring guard; he’s a hard kid to guard for a lot of teams.”
