Basketball Players of the Week - Week 10
NWAACC Men's Player of the Week
#23 Tyrell Lewis - Pierce
Pierce guard Tyrell Lewis had a monster week last week, leading his third-ranked Raiders in victories over Grey's Harbor and No. 5 Tacoma. Lewis who leads the league in steals, had a season high 30 points to go along with eight boards against Grey's Harbor, and a night later put up 29 points and pull down a season high 17 rebounds to knock off Tacoma. However, it wasn't just his numbers that won him this week's award. Lewis hit three of four free throws in the final 16 seconds to ice the victory and help Pierce hold on to their 1st place position in the Western Region.
Nominator's comments: “Tyrell is a true game changer. He has the ability to put his team on his back at any time during a game, and yet, he is the consummate team player. He can do it all at both ends of the floor.”
NWAACC Women's Player of the Week
One of only two players to be averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds, Bobbi Britt's performance throughout the season has been remarkable. Britt has scored in single digits just twice this season, and has scored over 20 six times, including her last two contests. In perhaps the biggest win for the Chokers so far this season, Britt hit for 20 points and 14 rebounds in a road victory over Lower Columbia, who is fighting to climb the ladder at the top of the Western Region. Britt also had a pair of blocks, two assists, and four steals in the victory.
Nominator's comments: "This past week Bobbi had another 2 double-doubles, making her total 9 this season. With her performance we improved upon a big loss earlier to Pierce and defeated Lower Columbia this week. Her athleticism and consistency this year has made a huge impact on Grays Harbor basketball."
