Basketball Players of the Week - Week 12
NWAACC Men's Player of the Week
#5 Josh Lord - Tacoma
Injured to start the season, sophomore Josh Lord didn't start play until December 20th, a decent chunk of the way through the preseason. Since then, Lord has consistently contributed, helping Tacoma to clinch a playoff berth. Lord was perfect from the three point line and the free throw stripe against Highline, and scored 24 points, grabbed six boards and racked up six assists in a win over Clark, Tacoma's fifth win in a row.
Nominator's comments: "Josh is the consummate point guard, leading the Titans to 2 big wins this week. In the 90-51 win over Highline Josh scored 13 points including 3-3 from 3 while grabbing 6 rebounds & 9 assists but, his biggest impact was made with his constant defensive pressure. He had 24 points 6 rebounds & 6 assists vs Clark where his key baskets down the stretch secured the Titans victory."
NWAACC Women's Player of the Week
Megan Shields had a monster week, there's no other way to put it. Against, SW Oregon, who is fighting to creep into the playoffs, Shields was everywhere. She scored a season-high 31 points, pulled down a season-high 17 rebounds, had four steals, and barely missed her season-high with eight blocks. Count 'em. As if things couldn't get any bigger in the next game, Shields was instrumental in a 66-63 win over top-ranked Clackamas - 18 points, six boards, four blocks and a steal. Lane is now just one game back of Clackamas in the Southern Region with a pair of games remaining.
Nominator's comments: "Megan played outstanding at both ends of the floor in games that we needed to win. She was the main reason we won both games this past week."
