NWAACC student-athletes donate 1024 clothing items to Friends of Youth

The 2013 NWAACC Soccer Friendlies clothing drive was a huge success. Edmonds CC Women's Soccer, organziers of the event for the third year, filled the tailgate of a pickup, the back and rear passenger seats of two SUVs and the trunk of a Mazda with all the items collected.
10 schools participated as well as the Washington Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (WAISOA).

“The clothing drive organized by Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges was a tremendous success," said Friends of Youth Director of Development Dan Johnson. "The donations will support youth at our emergency shelter for homeless young adults in Redmond as well as homeless young adults in our Transitional Living Programs. Friends of Youth is grateful to both NWAACC for their partnership in supporting young people in challenging circumstances”.
"The NWAACC student-athletes stepped up an made a significant contribution to the Friends of Youth," said NWAACC Executive Director Marco Azurdia. "It is the NWAACC’s intent to educate our student-athletes on the responsibilities and opportunities to give back to communities, to help meet the needs of those in need. Thanks to the Friends of Youth, NWAACC student-athletes and to the Edmonds Community College Women’s Soccer Team for facilitating this endeavor. Character does matter."

Lower Columbia - 22 items
In all 1024 total items were donated to Friends of Youth!
