Umpqua Men's Basketball aids Roseburg Rescue Mission
On September 27th, the Umpqua Community College Men’s Basketball team visited the Roseburg Rescue Mission to help serve lunch to the people involved with the Mission. Over 120 individuals were served lunch by the team throughout the 2 hour visit. The team was also able to sit down and build relationships with the people in the mission.
“Putting a smile on their faces felt good, it was great to get to know them better and I hope we do it again soon because hearts were touched,” said sophomore guard Torrmall Thomas (Meridian, ID).
“This is what we are building here at UCC - an environment that cultivates the development of life skills in the student athletes," said first year head coach Daniel Leeworthy. "We want to be champions on and off the court, and also in the community.”
The team also plans to assist the local Boys and Girls club this Thursday evening.
