DREAMSEAT Basketball Players of the Week - Jan 27

VANCOUVER, Wa. - The Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges has named its Dreamseat Basketball Players of the Week for January 27, 2014.

MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Payton PervierPayton Pervier, Edmonds College
Freshman Center


Edmonds College freshman center Payton Pervier, a 7-foot center, led Edmonds College (12-8; 4-3) to a 87-73 win over North Region opponent Olympic College (1-16; 1-6) and a 90-88 win over Everett College (11-10; 2-5).

Both road wins helped move Edmonds College into fourth place in the North Region. Edmonds has won three games in a row.

Pervier posted 23 points, 20 rebounds, two blocks, and one steal, and two assists in 17 minutes of action in Edmond’s win over Olympic. Against Everett, he added 30 points, 19 rebounds, seven blocks, and two steals in 30 minutes of action.

Pervier was a combined 15-16 (94%) from the foul line and finished his week with back-to-back double-doubles while averaging 26.5 points, and 19.5 rebounds per-game, along with 4.5 blocks per-game.
The Snohomish, Washington native has appeared in only seven games this season missing significant time at the start of the season due to injury.

WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Whatcom freshman center Kayla Tiemersma led Whatcom College to two North Region wins over Everett and Shoreline.

Tiemersma opened her week with 22 points on 8-11 shooting (73%) to go along with her 14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and one steal to help Whatcom (10-7; 6-1) defeat north rival Everett (7-13; 4-3) 79-62.

Tiemersma followed-up with a 28-point (10-14; 71%), 13 rebound performance in a 74-48 win over Shoreline (3-12; 1-6). She also pitched-in three steals, two assists, and two blocks.

Tiemersma finished her week shooting 18-25 (72%) with 50 points (25 per-game), 27 rebounds (13.5), five assists (2.5 per-game), four steals (2 per-game), and four blocks (2 per-game).

The Lynden, Washington native is 14th in NWAACC rebounding with 8.2 rebounds per-game.
