DREAMSEAT Basketball Players of the Week - Feb 11

VANCOUVER, Wa. - The Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges has named its DreamSeat/Seating Solutions Basketball Players of the Week for February 10, 2014.

MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Feb 11

Mt. Hood Community College sophomore center Mac Johnson led Mt. Hood Community College (17-5; 6-3) to a 105-102 win over South Region opponent Chemeketa Community College (10-11; 6-3). The win moved Mt. Hood into a five-way tie for first place in the south region.

Johnson posted 30 points (55%), grabbed 11 rebounds (six offensive), three assists, and one block in the Saints win over the Storm.

The Spokane, Washington native is 13th in NWAACC scoring at 19.3 points-per-game while third in rebounding averaging 10.9 rebounds-per-game, and shooting 62.3% (fourth) on the season.

WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Feb 11

Sophomore Guard

Community Colleges of Spokane sophomore guard Riley Holsinger led CCS (13-10; 5-5) to a 67-57 win over Blue Mountain (16-7, 5-5) and a 78-58 over Treasure Valley (0-10; 2-21) helping Spokane move into a tie for fourth-place in the east region.

Holsinger shot 9-18 (50%) from the floor while scoring 33 points, grabbing six rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and one steal in CCS’ win over Blue Mountain. Holsinger followed-up that effort with a 24-point, nine-rebound, five-steal, three-block performance against Treasure Valley.

The Spokane, Washington native leads the NWAACC in scoring with 22.5 points-per-game, second in blocks at 2.2, fourth in free-throw shooting at 81.4%, fifth in steals with 3.2 per-game, 12th in assists with four per-game,  19th  in rebounds with 7.9 per-game. Holsinger is in the top 20 for each of the six major statistical categories tracked by the NWAACC.
