Lower Columbia & Clackamas top NWAACC basketball polls

Vancouver, WA — The initial Horizon Air – Coaches’ polls have been released for men’s and women’s basketball.

Lower Columbia (0-0, 3-0) take top ranking in the men’s poll. The Red Devils recently won the Red Devil Classic tourney with a victory over second-ranked Clackamas (0-0, 3-1) in the championship game. Belleuve (0-0, 3-0) , winners of the Pierce Thanksgiving tourney, come in at third and Chemeketa, who had an eight-point win over NJCAA powerhouse College of Southern Idaho, rounds out the top four.

Clackamas (0-0, 3-0) heads the ladies’ polls. The Cougars won the Clackamas Thanksgiving tourney with a six-point win over fourth-ranked Umpqua (0-0, 2-1). Walla Walla (0-0, 3-0) also got off to a strong start by winning the Yakima High Hopes tourney and come in this week’s poll at number two. 2008-09 NWAACC Champions Lane (0-0, 2-0) make the top four at number three.
