Southwestern Oregon Men and Bellevue Women Win NWAACC Golf Championships

WALLA WALLA — The Southwestern Oregon Laker men and Bellevue Bulldog women capped their seasons with titles at the Walla Walla Country Club in Walla Walla, WA.

The Laker men entered the tournament as an underdog to regular season champion Spokane and 2013 championship runner-up Green River while the Bellevue women continued their regular season dominance with a 499 to 509 win over runner-up Green River women.

The Laker men held a six stroke lead heading into the final day and were able to hold off the Green River Gators by three strokes while Spokane came back to take third place honors. Green River’s Broc Johnson finished a great season winning Medalist honors. Columbia Basin’s Jack Tumilison finished four strokes behind Johnson in second place.

Spokane’s Scott Kramer was named the NWAACC Men’s Golf Coach of the Year.

Bellevue women finished ten strokes better than second place Green River. Bellevue’s Suchada Anusuriya took Medalist honors edging Green River’s Madeleine Ottosson in a playoff while Green River’s Britney Thurber finished third overall.

Columbia Basin’s Dan Clifford was named the NWAACC Women’s Golf Coach of the Year.
