Bremerton, Wash - The Bellevue Bulldogs needed a brilliant day two performance from KC Chang who eight under par Monday at Golf Mountain Golf Club to secure their second ever NWAACC Men's Golf Championship.
After the first day, Bellevue held a five stroke lead over Walla Walla seven stroke lead over Spokane. The Bulldogs needed every bit of their excellent day one performance and an amazing performance from Chang to hold off Spokane who only ended one stroke behind Bellevue.
Walla Walla fell off the pace and slipped to fourth, while Skagit Valley played more consistently finished third.
Spokane's Tyler Johnson was the NWAACC Individual Champion shooting one under for the tournament. He finished one ahead of Bellevue's Johnny Carey and KC Chang. Matt Epstein (Bellevue) finished fourth, two back of Johnson. There were five players tied for fifth including Matt Hennick (SVC), Kyler Gable (CCS), Sam Krause (CCS), Jason Molner (CCS) and Marcus Kilthau (WWCC).
Bellevue's Kirk Johanson was named the men's NWAACC Coach of the Year.This is Bellevue's first men's NWAACC Golf Championship since resurrecting the program in 2006. Bellevue last won in 1974.
