Head baseball coach (1951-61) and football coach (1956-60) at YVC before serving as the head baseball job at Washington State University from 1962-1994.
Brayton led the Indians to nine WSJCAC baseball titles, including a conference record five in a row between 1957-61. His record during an eleven year stint at YVC was 251-68.
He is the winningest coach in WSU school history, with a record of 1,162 wins, 523 losses and eight ties—the fourth-best total in NCAA history at the time he retired. His Cougar teams won 21 conference titles (two Northern Division and 19 Pac-8/10), including 11 in a row from 1970 to 1980. He led the Cougars to the College World Series in 1965 and 1976.
