Cor van der Meer played on the Dutch National Youth Soccer Team as a teenager in the Netherlands before he immigrated to the United States in 1960. He served as a youth team coach and coached a semi-professional soccer team in Vancouver, Washington before moving to Spokane in 1982.

Van der Meer became the head men’s soccer coach at CCS in 1985 and started one of the strongest programs in NWAACC history. His record was 226 wins, 91 losses and 43 ties. He was voted NWAACC Coach of the Year in 1989, 1992 and 1996. His men’s teams at CCS made the playoffs 16 times, while winning nine region and two NWAACC championships.

Cor started the women’s soccer program at CCS in 1990 and coached them until 2000 with seven playoff appearances and three region championships. His record with the women’s team was an outstanding 106 wins, 53 losses and 18 ties.

A successful author, clinician, tournament director and summer camp director, he lived for the sport of soccer. Van der Meer has been selected to the Washington State Youth Soccer Association, CCS and the NWAACC Halls of Fame.
