1993 Men's Basketball TeamBellevue College The Helmsmen went 32-1 to win the second men’s basketball title in school history, the first since their inaugural season in 1968. BCC, whose only loss came at Clackamas in December, opened the NWAACC Tourney by beating Walla Walla and Grays Harbor to make it to their second championship game in five years. Playing division rival Edmonds for the fifth time during the season, the Helmsmen trailed 75-63 with 7:55 remaining before rallying for a thrilling 89-87 victory. Tournament MVP Willie Thomas sank two free throws with eleven seconds left to tie the contest at 87-all. At halfcourt, Thomas stole the ball and scored the winning points with five seconds remaining to seal the win for the Helmsmen. |
