Update: McGill added another 26 rebounds over the weekend against Tacoma to move to within 4 rebounds of the record.

South Puget Sound sophomore Savannah McGill is now only 4 rebounds from becoming the NWAC's career rebound record holder.

The 6'1" forward from River Ridge High School in Lacey, WA broke the season record last year when she recorded 456 boards for the 2015-16 season. The mark broke a 26 year old record of 453 that was previously set by Blue Mountain's Renae Griggs in 1989-90.

The career record is currently held by Lane's Mercedes Alexander who recorded 423 rebounds in 2007 and added 360 during the 2008 season for a total of 783.

McGill has had some huge numbers this season with nine games of 20 rebounds or more. Her highest total was 29 boards on December 17 and this weekend added another 26 to bring her two year total to 780.

After averaging 15.72 rebounds last season, McGill is currently averaging 20.25 rebounds this season. BMCC's Griggs' 1990 average of 16.78 rpg is currently the single season record.

McGill is projected to break the record at Lower Columbia on February 1st. Game time is set for a 6pm start in the NWAC Game of the Week which will be broadcast live on LCC's DevilVision.
