Tacoma & Lane assume #1 rankings in latest Horizon Air Basketball Polls - Mt Hood is coaches' preseason favorite for softball

Vancouver, WA -- The latest Horizon Air / Coaches' Poll basketball rankings have been released along with the coaches' preseason softball picks.

Men's Basketball
After spending a week in the top spot with an undefeated record, Chemeketa lost two consecutive Southern Division contests which caused them to free-fall to seventh while Tacoma (6-1, 14-2) slips into the top spot for the first time this season. Clackamas (4-1, 14-3) climbs back into the #2 spot after spending a few weeks at #4. Lower Columbia (5-2, 14-2), who spent the first three polls at number 1, has had a more difficult time against their West Division opponents in league play but hangs tough at #3 this week. East Division Leader Big Bend (5-0, 10-3) makes the biggest splash in this week's rankings coming in at #4 after a four week hiatus from the polls. [Complete poll]

Women's Basketball
Defending NWAACC Champions Lane (5-0, 16-1) return to the top spot after spending four weeks at number two. The Titans scored a big home game win last Saturday over Clackamas (4-1, 13-3) who drop a spot to fourth this week.  Previous #1 Walla Walla (4-1, 15-1) spent four weeks at the top of the polls but a tough road loss to Yakima Valley (5-0, 13-4) drop them a notch to second this week while the Yaks climb up a several spots into third.
