Umpqua Win Guarantees Postseason Spot

Vancouver, WA - The Umpqua Riverhawks women's basketball team had three players with 18 points to defeat Mt Hood Friday evening 83-70. The victory brought Umpqua into a tie for second with Clackamas in the Southern Region. More importantly however, the win puts them far enough ahead of Southwestern Oregon to guarantee a postseason spot.

The Riverhawks will be making their third consecutive trip to the Toyota Center. Last year, UCC finished third in the tournament. Head Coach Dave Stricklin (14th Year) will take a potent offensive attack averaging 84.26 points per game (2nd in NWAACC) in a bid to win Umpqua's third ever NWAACC title. Umpqua last won in 2000.

UCC is led by Nneamaka Anyanwu who is averaging 19.0 PPG (5th in the NWAACC), and averages 6.70 RPG. Kate Wilton is also a major contributor averaging 15.79 PPG.

The NWAACC Basketball Championships are being held March 6-9 at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, WA.
