Former NWAACC softball stars leading the way in Great Northwest Athletic Conference

Vancouver, WA -- Central Washington University juniors Lauren Hadenfeld, Keilani Cruz and Samantha Petrich, along with Western Washington's Erika Quint are a quartet of former NWAACC softball stars that are making their mark in the NCAA DIV II ranks in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) this season. [view GNAC Stats]

Hadenfeld, a 2008 NFCA NWAACC All-American and two-time Southern Region First Team selection for Mt Hood CC, is the cornerstone of her team's league leading 2.42 era.  She was been named the GNAC's Pitcher of the Week three of the last four weeks. As of March 22, Hadenfeld (11-2) leads the conference in wins, strikeouts (98), ERA(1.68), shutouts (4) and complete games (8). She also recently pitched a no-hitter, the first in over five years for CWU.

While Hadenfeld is holding down the opponent's offense, Cruz and Petrich are heating up the bats for the GNAC's top hitting squad.  Cruz, a first team West Region selection for Pierce College last season, is second in the GNAC in individual batting with a .397 batting average while Petrich, a 2009 NWAACC NFCA All-American at Lower Columbia College, is currently sixth on the leaderboard with a .360 batting average.

Petrich is in the conference's top ten in nearly every hitting category. She is currently 10th in hits (27), 1st in runs scored (26), 2nd in home runs (6), 3rd in doubles (7), 2nd in RBIs (25), 6th in total bases (52), 1st in walks (17), 2nd in on base percentage (.463) and 2nd in slugging percentage (.693).

Cruz also currently holds top ten marks in RBIs (6th, 17), on base percentage (5th, .435) and slugging percentage (4th, .603)

Western Washington University's Erika Quint, a 2009 North Region first team selection from Olympic College, is also leading the GNAC's pitching ranks. Quint (5-6) is currently fifth in the conference with a 2.41 ERA and 2nd, just behind Hadenfeld, in strikeouts (69) and shutouts (2).
