Bellevue Women Claim Sixth Consecutive Tennis Title

Spokane, Wash - The Bellevue Bulldogs used the strength of their entire team to win their sixth consecutive NWAACC Women's Tennis title. Despite winning only one individual or doubles championship, Bellevue squeaked out a nine point victory over Green River.

The results of the team competition came down to the last completed match of the day when Bellevue's Erica Leong defeated Kindall Gehrett (CCS) to take third-place in the number one singles competition. A victory provided the 13 points needed to overtake Green River. Bellevue's nine point victory over Green River was by far the closest of their current title run.

#1 Singles Champion - Lindsey Newman, Skagit ValleySkagit Valley's Lindsey Newman defeated defending NWAACC championship Jodi Owen (GRCC) 6-0,6-2 to win the #1 singles titles. Newman also paired up with Brandi Benner to win the #1 doubles title over Green Rivers Owen and Darcy Idler. The Cardinals won six of the nine championship matches at the tournament but failed to score any points in the other three.
