2007 Soccer Championships Updates

Sunday November 18 Women's NWAACC Championship Clackamas 2 Walla Walla 1 - FINAL Tukwila, WA. - The Clackamas Cougars (17-0-1, 19-2-2) captured their third NWAACC title in four years defeating East Region champion Walla Walla 2-1. The Warriors (17-0-1, 22-1-1) entered the title match undefeated and had outscored their opponents 128-9 during the season. CCC lit up their fans early in the match when Patti Degerness passed the ball to Hayley Koch from the top of the eighteen yard box. Koch then touched it back to Degerness near the six yard box. Degerness played it over to Lewis who put a few touches on the ball then buried it for the score. The Warriors came out of the half down 1-0, but Tana Renz got them on the board in the 51st when a mad scramble occurred inside the Cougar six yard box. Georgie Christensen blocked a shot but was unable to get a handle on the ball as it bounced around in front of the goal. Renz finally scooted the ball over the goal line to knot the match at 1-1. McKenzie Creamer and the Cougars answered quickly when Creamer beat a defender from 20 yards out and launched a floater that sailed far post for the winning goal in the 53rd minute. Goal Keeper & Cougar Co-Captain Georgie Christensen was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player. Christensen had several outstanding saves through both contests including five shots by the potent Walla Walla offense.
