Former NWAACC athletes making recent headlines

Ashley Hutchinson (2009 Spokane Falls CC Graduate ) won the 20lb Weight throw this past Friday Night Feb. 17th at the Robert Shine Invite (Laramie, WY)   She set a new Personal Best of 19.93m  (65’ 4.75”) which is #2 All Time in Wyoming History.  This mark is also #5 All Time in Mountain West Conference History and currently ranks #23 in the NCAA.

Former Skagit Valley College Women’s Basketball player Alex Love took part in the USA Olympic Boxing qualifying tournament for the upcoming Olympic games. Love was one of 24 hopefuls boxing for a chance to be one of the first women to compete in boxing at the Olympic games.  Love recorded a win and a loss before being eliminated from the tournament by Virginia Fuchs on Wednesday [results]. Former Southwestern Oregon pitcher Bryce Weidman was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates following his freshman season with the Lakers and is working his way up the ranks of the minor leagues in the Pirates' organization, hoping to eventually earn a spot with the Pirates. Two time NWAACC Golf Champion (2007 & 08) Richard Lee, a 2008 Bellevue College graduate took part in the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am completed just this weekend. Lee tied for 15th place with Tiger Woods and three others - and won $102,400! [view results]
