Cross Country Runners of the Week 2

Beginning in the 2008 Cross Country season, the cross country coaches have started nominating Runners of the Week.

Men's Cross Country
Cory Jenkins, Whatcom
Cory was third at the Clark Invite last weekend at Lewisville State Park. He ran a 26:15. Whatcom Head Coach Joel Pearson says "Cory is our team captain and has always been a leader in academics and in life. Over the past 12 months of coaching Cory I have been able to watch him grow into an amazing athlete as well. He was an 18:30 guy in high school, and is now a leader in the NWAACC. Cory's extreme dedication to the aspect of what a student-athlete should be is amazing."

Women's Cross Country
Laura Carlyle, Whatcom
Last weekend, Laura won the Clark Invite over a pair of former NWAACC champions while also running the fastest 5k time of the year for any current NWAACC runner. Head Coach Joel Pearson said "This is Laura’s 10th month of being a runner. Those 10 months I have had the pleasure to watch Laura grow into not only one the best runner in the NWAACC but also one of the best leaders I have ever met. Her time of 19:01, in her second cross country race ever, was just 2 seconds shy of the course record.
