2011-12 Red Lion Scholarship Winners
Red Lion Scholarship – Women
Gylany Crossman, Lane
A cross country and track participant at Lane Community College for the past two years. Crossman has an impressive 4.1 GPA during her time at Lane. She has been named to the President’s List three times and once to the Vice President’s List. Her athletic career is equally impressive. She broke Lane’s 35 year record in the 3k, running the event in 9:48.73. She finished second at the NWAACC Cross Country Championships in 2011. She won the 10k at the 2011 NWAACC Track & Field Championships.
Red Lion Scholarship - Men
Brett Ball, Clackamas
A men’s basketball player for Clackamas, Ball has earned a 3.97 GPA. He is completing his associate’s degree this term and has signed a basketball scholarship to compete at Carroll College in Montana next year. Ball was a key player for the Cougars this past season. He led the team in rebounding and was second in scoring average. “We’re thrilled for him,” said assistant coach Brian Stamme. “He has such a great work ethic in the weight room, the classroom, and on the court. He will do a great job continuing to play ball and get his next degree.”
