Five NWAACC Women's Basketball Standouts Sign at New Hope Christian College
The New Hope Christian College coaching staff celebrated a formidable recruiting class for the 2012-2013 Men’s Basketball Team and a historic moment for the College with the first recruiting class for Women’s Basketball. With a near packed house at the Rexius Event Center and Gymnasium, sixteen men and women committed on Friday, April 27, 2012 to play for the Deacons.
First year coach Ben Voogd introduced ten young women who pack plenty of college basketball experience. Of the ten players introduced, five are transfers from NWAACC colleges. Coach Voogd says, “We should be extremely competitive from the season’s tip off; these young woman love to run the floor and are great shooters.” Coach Voogd was also very excited with the women’s first signing class in the history of New Hope.
This year’s team is built with speed in mind and the desire to push the ball up and down the floor. Coach Voogd introduced the following NWAACC alums as part of his inaugural roster: Chelsea Dyson, Clark College; Deanna Tupai, Umpqua Community College; Kelsey Sparks, Bellevue College; Dorian Perkey and Ginna Lorusso from Linn-Benton Community College.
