PIERCE 7 YAKIMA VALLEY 2 stats
LONGVIEW—Yakima entered the day as the only undefeated team left in the tournament but was given all they could handle and more from Pierce.
Riding a 27-inning scoreless streak (NWAC record), the Yak pitching staff had high hopes for a repeat performance but those hopes would be dashed in the first.
The Raiders came out swinging scoring 6 runs in the frame lead by Matt Thompson who doubled in 2 runs and Rayven Kahana who hit a towering home run to left.
Carter Johnson finished the hit parade off with another double that brought 2 more runs across.
The Yaks were able to scratch 2 in the 6th on a couple of Pierce miscues but it was not enough as Pierce tallied 1 more in the 6th on a Kahana fielder's choice.
Mac McCarty recorded the complete game for the Raiders allowing only the 2 runs while striking out 8.
Yakima Valley, who suffered their first loss of the tournemanet, advances to the championship to face the winner of Pierce/Everett. Both games will take place on Monday at 12:05pm and 3:00pm respectively.
