Former Shoreline Dolphin Henry McAree Selected by the Miami Marlins

Former Shoreline Dolphins Baseball Player Henry McAree was recently selected in the 2017 MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins in the 29th round.

McAree had a dominant Shoreline career which was capped off by an NWAC All Region Second Team Award in 2015. 

He was a two-year starter for the Dolphins compiling an 8-5 record with a 2.51 ERA in 111.2 innings, appearing 17 times with 15 starts and one save. He struck out 128 batters and only walked 44.

McAree threw a 7 inning no-hitter on May 11, 2013.

Following Shoreline, He pitched two seasons for Lewis-Clark State. In 2016, he had a solid season with a 8-0 record and a 3.00 ERA. The eight wins ranked second on the team.

He made 14 appearances, all but one in relief. McAree pitched 39 innings and gave up 34 hits and 13 earned runs, struck out 42 and walked only 9.

His top performance came against the College of Idaho on April 9 when he allowed just two hits over five innings. He also struck out four and walked one.

In 2017 McAree posted a 2.74 ERA over 23 inning pitched with 38 strikeouts and just 6 walks. Opponents hit just .125 off the 6’2" right hander.

McAree signed with the Marlins in June and was in fact recently promoted from the Gulf Coast League to Class A Short Season Batavia, a minor league affiliate of the Miami Marlins.
