SOPHOMORE • PITCHER
Jared Akin, Liberty HS, Hillsboro, OR., completed a key shutout win against Pierce only allowing 2 hits and facing the minimum 27 batters. Akin has lowered his ERA to 3.40 (1.78 conference) and improved to 3-2 on the year (3-0 conference) for the West leading Red Devils.
“Jared was outstanding this weekend commanding three pitches, keeping hitters off balance," said Red Devil head coach Eric Lane. "This was one of the most efficient complete games I have ever seen.”
NWAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK - May 2
Brayden Olson, Rogers HS, Spokane, WA., topped all qualified hitters in average (.706) while collecting 12 hits and 7 RBI’s in 4 games. Olson leads the Sasquatch in batting with a .476 average and 30 hits. He is amongst the top hitters in the NWAC in average.
“Brayden was outstanding all week," said Sasquatch head coach Bryan Winston. "This past week is a testament to Brayden and the work he has put in. He looked comfortable at the plate and picked us up numerous times. He was a big reason why we went 4-0 on the week.”
