Former NWAC baseball standouts Alvarado and Longaker earn North Star Athletic Association Player of the Week Honors
Alvarado played at Columbia Basin and Longaker played at Shoreline and Everett.
MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its sixth installment of the baseball weekly honors Monday. Bellevue (Neb.) swept the honors for the second consecutive week, with Anthony Alvarado being named to Pitcher-of-the-Week and Kory Langaker being selected to the Player-of-the-Week.

Anthony Alvarado – Bellevue (Neb.) – 6'2" – Junior – Pitcher – Wapato, Wash. – Alvarado was terrific in both of his appearances, fueling Bellevue (Neb.) to a perfect 5-0 record for the week. He worked one game in relief and starting another. In the mid-week non-conference action against Peru State (Neb.), he tossed two innings without allowing a hit as BU cruised to a 17-6 victory. He followed up that performance with eight shutout innings against Viterbo (Wis.) as he picked up the win in the third game of the weekend series. For the week, Alvarado tossed 10 innings and allowed no runs (0.00 earned run average – ERA) on six hits and registered seven strikeouts.
North Star Athletic Association Baseball Player-of-the-Week
Kory Longaker – Bellevue (Neb.) – 5'10" – Senior – Shortstop – Edmonds, Wash. – Longaker recorded an impressive .706 batting average as Bellevue (Neb.) went 5-0 record for the week, helping the Bruins run their winning streak to 11 games. He was 12-of-17 at the plate, with eight doubles and a home run to go along with six RBIs and 10 runs scored. Longaker registered an amazing 1.353 slugging percentage. He reached base multiple times in all five games as he stretched his hitting streak to team-best 12 games. He recorded two doubles in three separate contests. Longaker picked up a season-high four hits, coming a triple shy of the cycle in BU's 28-3 series-opening victory over Viterbo (Wis.).
