NWAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK - MAY 15
Matt James, Ferndale HS, Ferndale, WA.
James helped Yakima secure the second seed in the East with another powerful week at the plate. Against Big Bend and Walla Walla, he launched 2 home runs and 2 doubles for 5 RBIs. Yakima will host Chemeketa and Bellevue in a double-elimination Super Regional with the winner heading to the NWAC tournament. This is James second baseball hitter of the week selection this season.
Yaks head coach Kyle Krustangel had this to say about his slugger, "Matt has worked extremely hard these last 8 months to develop as a hitter and be a true power hitter with a foul pole to foul pole homerun pop. Matt has maintained a high batting average with an impressive 11 homeruns."
