SPOKANE -- Community Colleges of Spokane’s Baseball pitcher Reed Harrington was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 20th round, the 617th overall pick, of the recent MLB draft. Harrington had signed with Boise State but will no longer attend as he begins his professional baseball career.
This past season at Spokane, Harrington led the NWAC with 12 saves, striking out 31 and walking just four in 25 2/3 innings. He did not allow a single earned run. As a freshman in 2018, he struck out 28 in 34 innings while posting a 1.32 ERA.
Coach Winston on the impact Reed had on Spokane’s success this past two seasons, ”Reed just finished an outstanding two year career here at Spokane Falls. He was a very important piece as our team won the East Region title. We are extremely proud of Reed and the accomplishments he earned these past two years including: back to back East Region reliever of the year as well as 1st team all-NWAC reliever of the year. Reed earned this opportunity with the Red Sox and we couldn’t be more excited for him. This is a dream come true for him and we can’t wait to follow his career.”
