Joan ArmstrongSkagit Valley College Was at SVC for 37 years serving in many sports. She was tennis coach for 27 years and also coached basketball in the days when women's community college sports competed against four-year colleges in the old Northwest College Women's Sports Association. Coached field hockey for 15 years going unbeaten against other community college teams. Was on the US Olympic field hockey staff but did not compete due to the American boycott of the 1980 Moscow games. When the NWAACC took on women's sports in 1978, she served many years as athletic commissioner and Executive Board member. |
