Everett Evanoff, Colony HS / Palmer, AK.

Lakers' Last Chance Meet
Event: 400M, Time: 51.65

Laker head coach Jason Cash had high appraisal on Evanoff's improvements this season, "Everett began the season with a PR of 56.51 from his freshman year, through most of his meets he struggled to get out of the 58 second range. This season he devoted himself to improvement, hit the weights like he never had before, took a leadership role as a team captain, and did all the small things to improve. Almost every meet this season he has set a personal best; and even with that he was in and out of the Top 16. On the final weekend to qualify he ran an almost 1 1/4 second best to now rank 13th and punch his ticket to the NWAC Championship in an individual event."

"Alyssa has been working hard to perfect her vault and hitting the 11'9" was only a matter of time," said Cougar head coach Keoni McHone. "She has remained positive through some of the less than desirable competitions.  She did something quite remarkable during this competition.  She took off for a vault, but the pole she moved up to was too stiff.  It sent her back onto the runway where she was able to land on her feet.  She walked back and grabbed the next smaller pole, got on the runway, ran down and cleared 11'.  I have never seen a vaulter get rejected and then clear the vault within the allotted time.  She also had a great hammer competition and ran a solid 4 x 400 leg on the NWAC leading time."
