Wayne PurdomYakima Valley College Former student at YVCC who returned to teach and coach at his alma mater. As a football player, he led the Indians to their only conference title playing linebacker and offensive guard. He also won the 191-pound championship at the 1965 NWAACC Wrestling Tournament. Transferred to Montana State where he was a Big Sky wrestling champion and all-conference football player including defensive Player of the Year in 1966. Returned to YVC in 1968 as physical education instructor, head wrestling coach and assistant football coach. Was the Indians' head football coach between 1974-88. Recently retired as athletic director at East Valley High School in Yakima. |
