Ernie Woods' basketball expertise and knowledge is highly recognized both on the national and international levels. His passion for teaching has led to a strong commitment to player development. He is the recipient of the prestigious Bellevue Bicentennial Outstanding Educator Award, and is currently a member of the United States Basketball Academy's Coaches Advisory Board.

Woods had an outstanding collegiate basketball career at Washington State University. He has been a teacher and coach for 50 years. His Bellevue College teams won 541 games along with two northwest championships, ten regional championships, and twenty nine tournament titles.

He received "Coach of the Year" honor seven times, and was selected as the 1977 Basketball Clinician of the year by the United States Pacific Air Force.

Beyond his college coaching career, Woods has met the challenge of working with Australian, Brazilian, Chinese, German, Swedish, Spanish, Venezuela, Korean, and Japanese national and professional teams.

Coach Woods has consulted and scouted for various NBA and WNBA teams, along with producing playbooks for the Raptors, Nuggets, Sonics,Wizards, Fever, and Shock.

In addition, he was a consultant and master coach for Adidas International's coveted Superstar Camps.

Over the years, Woods, has organized and conducted numerous basketball tournaments and summer leagues. In 1968, the Bellevue Tip-Off Tournament became the first pre-season tournament conducted on any level in the state of Washington. It ran until it was replaced by the current NWAACC cross-over tournaments. In addition, he has directed try-outs for the CBA, China’s Professional Basketball League.
