Dave played basketball at Bellevue from 1969-71 under Hall of Fame coach Ernie Woods. At Bellevue, Dave held the single season record for career free throws. During the 1970-71 season, he led the NWAACC in free throw percentage, making 88.8% for the season. Dave then went on to play at Seattle Pacific University where he was a starting point guard during their run to the NCAA Sweet 16. After Seattle Pacific, Dave came back to Bellevue in 1973 to be an assistant coach under Ernie Woods. Returning to Seattle University, Dave coached the Seattle U women's basketball team from 1977 to 2004, taking over as head coach in 1980. Over his 27 years there, Dave accumulated 240 wins and is currently the "winningest" coach in Seattle University's history.
