Rick Harrison competed in gymnastics at Rogers High School before attending SFCC. He then went on to Eastern Washington University where he became a competitive college gymnast.

Upon graduation, Rick became girl’s head coach for Rogers High School. He then began serving as long-time head gymnastics coach for the Community Colleges of Spokane from 1976-1987. Harrison’s teams won the National NJCAA Championships in 1980, 1981, and 1982 and Rick was named National Coach of the Year four consecutive seasons 1979-1982. Coach Harrison’s 1983, 1985, and 1986 teams were runners-up in the national championships. After gymnastics was dropped at CCS in 1988, he coached high school teams in Spokane for another 18 seasons.

Following his gymnastics coaching career, Rick continued as an assistant coach for two years in tennis and five years with the soccer program at the Community Colleges of Spokane.
