Laura EdmarkChemeketa Community College Before attending Chemeketa, Laura had never run competively. Chemeketa Head Coach Ed Ford say her running on campus one day and recruited her to run track and field. within a year, Laura was an NWAACC champion. She ran track and field for Chemeketa during the 1985 season. At the 1985 track and field championship held in Spokane, Laura won the 1500m title in a time of 4:37.33 and the 3000m title in 10:15.89. She currently holds the Chemeketa records for the 800m and the 1500m. She went on the attend Portland State University. She qualified for the 1994 Olympic Trials in the marathon and on the Portland Marathon in 1993. She graduated with a degree in psychology from Portland State. Laura also served in the army for three years. She currently works as a program specialist at the Portland VA Hospital. |
