Columbia Basin College

During Ed Maxwell's 29 years of service at Columbia Basin College, he was instrumental in the growth and success of the school's athletic department. Maxwell started at CBC in the fall of 1966 and retired in 1995. He spent five years as the Hawks baseball coach accumulating a 90-58 record. Twelve of his players went on to sign professional contracts. Most notable was Dave McKay who is currently the first base coach for the St. Louis Cardinals. Ed was key in bringing back the baseball team to CBC after a 14 year absence. While at Columbia Basin College, Maxwell also served as an assistant football coach, and helped CBC win the 1972 NWAACC championship. He also served as the head women's basketball coach, head men's track coach and women's assistant golf coach. Maxwell also served as the division head of Health and Physical Education department and founded the intramural program at CBC. Columbia Basin College Board of Trustees granted him Faculty Emeritus Status in October 1995.
