Dutch Triebwasser was a star prep football player and helped Lodi High School to three straight conference championships. He then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

Following his service, Triebwasser went on the play some baseball and football at College of the Pacific where graduated in 1954 and later recieved his Master's in 1961.

Triebwasser helped begin the athletic department at Mt. Hood CC in the fall of 1967. He was also the college’s athletic commissioner before he retired in 1989.

A past NWAACC Executive Board Chairman, he was once President of the Oregon Community College Athletic Association (OCCAA), chaired football and baseball committee and was a member of the NJCAA Region 18 Board of Directors.

Following his death in September 1989, The NWAACC established the Dutch Triebwasser Award which is given to NWAACC's outstanding athletic administrator each year at the NWAACC Hall of Fame banquet.
