Katie Banks was a member of the Lakers volleyball team that placed fourth in the 1992 NWAACC Tournament. She was a first-team Southern Region selection, team captain and MVP in 1993 when the Lakers finished tied for fifth place at the NWAACC championship tournament. Banks was then selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American team following her sophomore season.

Banks graduated with Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Grand Canyon College. She is currently teaching in the Coos Bay School District, and has been as an assistant coach at SWOCC for the past 10 years.
